DoCoMo offers piece of cellular action

Article Abstract:

Japan-based NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc, more popularly known as NTT DoCoMo, is offering up to $17 bil of company shares. NTT DoCoMo which provides the largest cellular telephone services in the country, is owned 95% by Nippon Telegraph & Telephone. NTT will be offering 218,000 of its shares as well as 327,000 new DoCoMo shares. Investors interested in NTT DoCoMo shares will not only be getting cellular services but also the newest global standard in wireless telephony through the acquisition of the Personal Handyphone System (PHS). PHS offers inexpensive low-powered wireless telephony much faster than a regular cellular phone.

Colony cellular-phone costs seen falling

Article Abstract:

Hong Kong's four most dominant cellular telephone service providers are pushing the costs of their units down to attract more customers. In a matter of a few months in 1996, average prices for cellular telephone units and services fell considerably. In addition, service providers are intensifying their efforts to offer new products and services in the Hong Kong mobile telephone market.

With cellular phones, reaching out in Philippines is less problematic

Article Abstract:

Cellular telephone services are booming in the Philippines with Piltel, Smart and Islacom all offering similar services. The three companies are competing fiercely for market share and service improvement has become an integral part of their management strategies. Of the three companies, Smart enjoys the biggest share in the market but the two companies are gaining in fast.
