Double effort

Article Abstract:

Architectural couple Jeremy Till and Sarah Wigglesworth have intertwined professional lives. They shared a year in the US on a Fellowship examining the relationship between architectural theory and practice, they both have part-time professorships at Sheffield University, they both write books, and they share a desire to be successful in their chosen field. Till and Wigglesworth's project to design a sustainable urban house for themselves has received a lot of media attention. It will be built from cheap materials including straw bales and concrete rubble, and it will have a grass roof.

Is this as good as it gets?

Article Abstract:

Architectural firms in the UK are generally seeing reasonable growth, and recruitment continues to rise. The most strongly performing sector is retail. However, some practices are not very confident about the future, and are particularly concerned about the impact of the forthcoming general election. In general, larger practices are more optimistic than smaller ones, especially as these practices have been seeing the most significant rises in fee income.
