Dreams of Field

Article Abstract:

Frank Field, who has been involved in welfare issues since the early 1970s, is the minister behind the UK's welfare reform plans. Analysts believe that the UK's plans will be more drastic than expected, because of Field'sstatus as a reformer, but the plans also may be taken more seriously. Field has long been an advocate of change in terms of how welfare is administered in the UK. He is against the idea of dependency on the system, and aims to create a fair system based primarily on work incentives, that may pay more benefits to those who contribute more to the system.

Into the clouds again: why Labour's attempts to plan welfare reform keep going astray

Article Abstract:

Labour needs to come up with a welfare reform plan that will cost nothing, help the poor, keep the middle class from being angry about entitlements taken away and will be politically acceptable to a majority of voters. No specific plans will satisfy all of those objectives.
