Drug firms agree to settle U.S. suit for $176 million

Article Abstract:

Major pharmaceutical makers have reached an agreement to pay a settlement of $176 million in a case that alleged the firms overcharged consumers in California for drugs, even as they gave discounts to large buyers. These drugs were purchased at small pharmacies. The case is the latest in a continuing legal fight between major drug manufacturers and independent pharamacies and their customers. Customers claim that a dual pricing system dominated the drug industry in the early 1990s.
