This article discusses the acquisition of the online travel system, Galileo International by Cendant Corp. and the investigations being conducted by the U.S. Justice Department and the European Commission. Concerns have been raised because Cendant owns and franchises several travel-service operations throughout the world.

Cendant to sell travel unit to Blackstone affiliate

Cendant Corp. of the United States is to sell its Travelport travel services unit for $4.3 billion to an affiliate of Blackstone Group L.P. also of the United States. The investment company is in the process of divesting a number of its holdings.
