Edmund Stoiber, Germany's rising tribune

Article Abstract:

Premier of the state of Bavaria, Germany, Edmund Stoiber is to be elected as German Christian Social Union chairman in Jan 1999. He is seeking to become leader of the political center-right in Germany and his party gained almost 53% of the vote in Sep 1998. He has ambitions to become Germany's chancellor and it is possible that he could appeal to northern Germany as well as to the south.
