Elektrim will acquire Bresnan for $325 million

Article Abstract:

Elektrim SA announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Bresnan International Partners (Poland) LP for $325 million. The deal is scheduled to be finalized by June 30, 1999. Bresnan is the owner of Aster City Cable Sp. z.o.o., the second largest cable television firm in Poland. The deal will be financed by a mix of debt and equity. This includes high-yielding bonds and convertible.

Telia and Telenor prepare to sign merger accord

Article Abstract:

Telia AB of Sweden and Telenor AS of Norway are set to merge, according to people close to both state-owned firms. Both companies are their respective countries' telephone carriers. The merger was announced in January 1999. However, it was blocked by major obstacles after the Norwegian and Swedish governments disagreed over management control and the location of certain operations.

Telenor to acquire Pannon shares

Telenor ASA, the biggest telecommunications-service provider in Norway, announced it would acquire the remaining shares of Hungary's Pannon GSM it does not already have for E1 billion in cash.
