Political unrest has contributed to a brain drain in Iraq's petroleum industry, forcing key personnel like oil economist Mohammed al-Jibouri to leave the country. The petroleum industry in Iran and Venezuela is facing similar personnel problems.

OPEC invites Iraqi oil minister

Article Abstract:

Ibrahim Bahr al-Uloum, the Iraqi minister of oil, will attend OPEC's ministerial meeting in Vienna, Austria in September 2003. Al-Uloum's attendance at the meetting will primarly be a symbolic one and will have little impact on oil markets.
