Bank of Communications IPO may not deliver in long haul

Article Abstract:

Some banking interests from China are launching initial public offerings on the Hong Kong stock exchange. Bank of Communications Ltd. is launching an initial public offering, fund raising $1.88 billion (U.S.), although it may not be a good longterm bet. BoCom also introduced an initial public offering priced at $2.50 (Hong Kong).

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. has had its credit rating lowered by Standard and Poor's. The conglomerate's credit rating was lowered as a result of its European third-generation wireless venture.
