Environmental option assessment

Article Abstract:

Environmental Option Assessment (EOA) has proven itself to be a potent instrument to aid decision-making in substance life cycle management. The EOA allows industries and their non-industry partners to cooperate in making rational choices on environmental action. The EOA involves a three-step methodology which initially defines and generates options that target the crucial environmental problem involved. The generated options are prioritized according to their environmental and economic impacts. Finally, options which present the most attractive yields are integrated into an action plan.

Environmental taxes and U.S. competitiveness

Article Abstract:

The high rate of US taxes on income, savings and investments is discouraging workers from pursuing productive activities. The need to reform the tax system becomes more imperative with the economic recession and revenue deficits. Taxes on unproductive activities of resource waste and pollution would be advantageous to economic development and environmental protection. Annual revenues alone would be at least $100 billion. Improved environmental quality and increased productivity will also result.
