Estimating preferred target input-outout levels using data envelopment analysis

Article Abstract:

Results of a study using data envelopment (DEA) models to set targets for inefficient units for decision making show both the usefulness of setting targets, and give pointers to estimating the relative efficiency of such decision making units (DMUs). While priority is goven to areas where there is clear room for improvement, potential improvements can be highlighted. While the models use targets that are controlled, they are flexible enough to be used where targets are set by external factors.

Exploring output quality targets in the provision of perinatal care in England using data envelopment analysis

Article Abstract:

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used in the comparative analysis of perinatal care provision of District Health Authorities in England. Perinatal care units are evaluated. The objective of the study is to find out how plausible measures can be used in assessing efficiency and target setting. The incorporation of quality measures into a DEA model could lead to implausible weights.

Improving envelopment in data envelopment analysis

Article Abstract:

A new approach to the problem of true efficiency of a decision making unit (DMU) is presented, where DMUs operate a constant returns to scale technology in a single-input multi-output context. The key features of the new approach and its difference from previous approaches are presented.
