Reshuffle renews fears of lack of focus for construction and design

Article Abstract:

Tony Blair's government has reshuffled its government to have new MPs in the domain of carving the responsibility of architecture and the built environment. Streatham MP Keith Hill is appointed as planning minister, Estelle Morris is chosen to be minister for the arts, museums and galleries and cultural property, Nigel Griffiths is recruited as the minister for small business and enterprise, where he oversees the construction industry as well as small business and social enterprise.

Ethical gauntlet thrown down in pursuit of construction code

Article Abstract:

The Society of Construction Law set up an ethics group to consider a single ethical code for the loose grouping of professionals from many disciplines who work in construction law and who are bound by a variety of different professional standards. An ethical code might help by giving guidance as to when a 'conflict review' would be appropriate, how to carry it out, who should be told about the problem, and what other positive action might be apt.
