The record emigration of professional employees in Germany is causing economic problems for the country, with fewer immigrants to replace them. Working conditions, high taxes, and low wages are among the reasons for the brain drain, which has seen many doctors, engineers, and academics leave Germany in the past few years.

Germany's exports surge despite run-up of euro

Article Abstract:

Exports in Germany increased in October 2007 despite a rise in the euro, suggesting that demand will bolster the nation's economy. Export value rose 0.6% to reach 83.5 bil euro, while exports increased 6.3%. The trade surplus increased to 18.2 bil.
