FRANCE/AUSTRALIA: INFOGRAMES IN AUSTRALIA

Article Abstract:

The French software publishing group, Infogrames, is not largely present in Australia, but it uses its distribution base in Sydney to monitor the Asia market. Its Australian subsidiary, Melbourne House, in Melbourne, would be considering producing for countries where the game software market is emerging, including China, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Melbourne House is also one of the group's 14 worldwide game design branches, where it employs 75, out of 90 in total in Australia. It would be no surprise too, that Infogrames' latest game, Le Mans 24 Hours, was designed in Melbourne, where the locals are glued to the TV to follow the famous 24 hour racing competition. The new game could also be outsourced to Vietnam or South Korea. Le Mans 24 Hours should be out in October 2000
