FRANCE: NETISSIMO 1 IS MACINTOSH-COMPATIBLE

Article Abstract:

Before the PPPoE protocol, totally compatible with the MacIntosh environment, takes over from the PPTP protocol, France Telecom will has already solved the compatibility issue between Netissimo, its high speed, ADSL high speed Internet connection offer, and MacIntosh computers. As at 23 March 2000, the operator will circulate a CD-Rom package including Tunnel Builder 5.09A to Apple users. The software product ensures a connection between the PPTP protocol of the Ethernet interface of Alcatel 1000 V3.1 modems, and the Mac OS 8.5 operating system.

FRANCE: VIA NET.WORKS TAKES OVER DNS TELECOM

DNS Telecom, which posted a turnover of EUR 3.8mn in 1999, has been taken over by Via Net.Works, the US access provider. The French business supplies small and medium firms with tailored telecoms services in frame relay, ATM, Internet access, and capacity. DNS Telecom also handles routers, virtual private networks and security systems.

FRANCE: COMPLETEL PRESENTS VLAN SERVICE

Article Abstract:

Completel offers a selection of three throughput (10, 100 MBPS, or 1 GBPS) as part of a new service available in Paris and six large cities of France. The optical fibre local loop operator's service, called LAN to LAN Gigabit Ethernet, implements the VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) technology to interconnect LAN networks. The service targets those companies with different sites in one single city.
