FRANCE: VIDEO-CONFERENCING SOLUTION FOR PC

Article Abstract:

Aethra has introduced SDV 9200, a video-conferencing system to be operated via a PC under Windows, which complies with the major three standards in video-conferencing (T120, H.320, and H.323). The new product, which retails at FFr 4,850 in France (taxes not included), includes a Codec card under the PCI format, a colour video camera, microheadphones and a connection cord for the ISDN line. SDV 9200, which comes with Microsoft's NetMeeting software product, is also operable via a local network, in which case the higher throughput supplies a better quality of picture.

FRANCE: E-COMMERCE SOFTWARE MARKET

Article Abstract:

According to IDC France, e-commerce sales of software licences in 2000 represented EUR 43mn, triple the 1999 figure. The market was stimulated by companies' e-commerce projects. In 2000, French companies allocated 12.5% of their Internet budget for the development of e-commerce sites. Nevertheless, services absorbed 63% of companies' total investments in e-commerce, compared with 25% for the purchase of equipment and 12% for software.
