Fans say ESPN's World Cup coverage deserves penalty

Article Abstract:

Soccer fans have been very critical of ESPN's approach to World Cup broadcasting. The chatty information-heavy style, familiar to football and baseball broadcasting, does not suit soccer's constant flow of play, say the experts. ESPN is hoping for an increase in ratings for soccer, due to its commitment to the 2010 and 2014 tournaments.

U.S. investor nets Manchester United

Malcolm Glazer, owner of the American football team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has increased his stake in the English soccer club Manchester United to 70%. He is currently in the process of preparing a formal bid to purchase the rest of club in a deal that would value the sports franchise at $1.48 billion.
