Fewer net widgets, more staff may led to fewer irate callers

Article Abstract:

The Internet has not solved the customer service problem in a way that satisfies the customer faster and curbs verbal abuse of customer service representatives. Now even the companies that have really worked hard at customer-support are in a pinch and have to lay off customer-support staff. One consideration is to use customer-interaction management tools, such as Active Buddy (www.activebuddy.com), an automated customer service that enables users to type in requests for specific information and receive an intelligent, but automated, response.
