Arab Radio and Television (ART) intends to broadcast outside of the Middle East in a bid to reach people who emigrate but who wish to keep contact with their language and culture. ART wants to reach an estimated 30 mil ethnic Arabs by expanding its services.

Prospect of a partnership adds luster to sleepy shares of Shaw Brothers

Article Abstract:

Media firm Shaw Brothers has expressed its desire to enter into a partnership with another firm. Analysts believe that Shaw's film library would make it attractive to potential partners while other investors may like the company for its potential breakup value. A partnership with Shaw Brothers would also be most beneficial for firms wanting to expand their presence in the Asian film and cable television markets.

Channel V and MTV Asia reach dissonance in war against red ink

Article Abstract:

The cable television music channels, Channel V and MTV, are experiencing problems in Asia because of declining viewership. Both channels have started an argument with regards to viewership claims. Channel V, through a magazine advertisement, chastised MTV for claiming that it has gained access to 100 million homes. Channel V has admitted that it has loss $100 million since 1994, when its satellite broadcaster Star TV parted ways with MTV and began its own music channel.
