Fix or float, sink or swim?

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the troubles being experienced by Thailand and other developing countries reveals that there is no fixed formula for managing currency devaluation and that monetary policy should be carefully planned before it is implemented. Floating a currency enables a country to peg inflation at the expense for increased volatility while pegging interest rates to a stable currency would increase inflation at higher levels.

The euro and the dollar: strut your stuff

Article Abstract:

There are two theories on how the euro would affect the US dollar. Some economists believe that the dollar will rise as investors are discouraged by an unstable euro replacing the solid D-mark. Others argue that the euro will encourage investors and central banks to diversify away from dollars.

That damned dollar

Article Abstract:

International markets seem ready to switch from the dollar as the dominant currency to a multiple-currency system, in which the Deutsche-mark and Japanese yen play larger roles. The US accounts for only 14% of exports worldwide and 1 5 of global output.
