Cup promo tip of the trinket trend

Article Abstract:

The top two beer manufacturers in Canada are implementing a marketing campaign that involves offering 'trinkets' in exchange for cases of their products. Labatt Brewing Company Ltd, which started the trend by offering miniature Stanley Cups with cases of its Blue beer brand, is being emulated by Molson Breweries of Canada Ltd with miniature hockey sticks in exchange for cases of its products. The competition has escalated to include other sports and give-aways.

ASC embarks on awareness effort

Article Abstract:

Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) of Toronto is trying to increase public awareness about its mission via a new communications strategy. Detailed media kits were distributed by ASC to consumer reporters across English - and French-speaking Canada during the whole week of Feb 22, 1999. The self-regulatory body will soon conduct radio and print public service announcements at various media outlets.
