Flanagan to PCF banking

Article Abstract:

President's Choice Financial, a property of Loblaw Companies Ltd. of Toronto, Ontario, appointed Brian Flanagan as its new channel manager. Flanagan used to be the I AM Web site developer at brewer Molson Breweries of Toronto, Ontario. He was also head for Internet projects at that company. President's Choice Financial allows its customers to partake of its financial services through the Internet. Flanagan will be setting up a new Web site for President's Choice. He will also be examining methods to improve the virtual company's electronic banking operations.

More retailers offer banking service

Article Abstract:

More retailers are offering banking service. Loblaw Companies Ltd through its banking arm President's Choice Financial (PCF) is offering the convenience of its around 60 locations to provide consumers various baking services. PCF has used point-of-purchase and store flyers to advertise its sites. The company's entry in the in-store banking arena has prompted other retailers to also offer their respective banking service. For instance, Toronto Dominion Bank eyes to open TD mini-branches in all new Wal-Mart Canada stores.

Article Abstract:

The overall volume of the chocolate bar category climbed by 11.3% for the 12-month period ended Feb. 28, 1998 from year before figures. The category expanded with new-product introductions in 1997, including Cadbury Chocolate Canada's TimeOut and Effem's Dove Caramel bar. To keep established brands fresh, companies also relied on brand extensions via new flavors, new pack sizes and package redesigns. The category resorted to advertising in newspapers, outdoor boards, TV and on stores-mountains of marketing initiatives.
