Ford predicts $900 million loss on bad loans, marketing costs

Ford Motor Co. is forecasting a loss of $900 million for the 2001 fourth-quarter. The expected loss is being attributed to a comprehensive restructuring plan scheduled for the middle of January 2002.

Nissan revival puts Ghosn in hot seat

Nissan Motor Corp's Chief Operating Officer Carlos Ghosn will announce the firm's restructuring plans, which investors hope will turnaround the automobile maker. However, the conservative nature of Japanese business may make it difficult for Ghosn to make drastic cuts in the number of vehicles the firm markets, especially in light of the corresponding layoffs expected.
