Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: The deficit of the current account of payment balance decreased to 34 bil Kc in 1998 compared to 100 bil Kc in 1997. A reason for the drop was a decrease in the deficit of payment balance. According to analysts, the decrease was caused by low domestic demand, which resulted in the drop of imports. The inflow of direct foreign investments was 80 bil Kc in 1998, a double compared to 1997. The credit of the financial account was 85 bil Kc in 1998 compared to 34 bil Kc in 1997.
