BEC World is a very profitable company for investors, having gained a net profit of 500.4 million baht for the first quarter, with per-share earnings at 2.50 baht per share, up 48% from last year, and revenue from sales and advertising totaling 1.44 billion baht, up 29% from last year. BEC dividends were 7.50 baht per share for 2000, and likely to rise this year. With BEC looking to diversify into areas such as motion picture and documentary production and distribution, it remains a lucrative stock for investors.

Foreign media firms tune in to opportunities to crack Vietnam's growing television market

Article Abstract:

Many foreign television production companies are hoping that Vietnamese consumers will demand more quality shows and force the government to relax its control of the television broadcasting industry. Vietnam's television broadcasting industry presents a largely untapped market boasting of over 70 million consumers. At present, however, advertising revenues remain small and government regulation of television programs is strong.
