Foster throws in the Buckyball - molecule for the millennium

Article Abstract:

Architect Sir Norman Foster opened an exhibition at the Science Museum, London, England, devoted to an exciting molecular discovery. The Buckminsterfullerine molecule, named after architect Richard Buckminster Fuller, has enormous strength. It is a carbon molecule with a spherical construction of hexagons and pentagons. Development of a material may be possible through stretching the molecule into tubes. The material would be 100 times stronger than steel but one sixth the weight. Potential applications include construction and electronics, due to its conductive properties.

Stonehenge switches to 'uninspiring' visitor centre site

Article Abstract:

A new visitor centre for Stonehenge is to be designed by Edward Cullinan Architects. The new site for the centre is archaeologically sensitive with an uninspiring approach, but culture secretary Chris Smith said the site is the most acceptable, meeting the concerns of local people. The new centre will incorporate education and interpretation facilities, a shop, restaurant and offices.
