Fox, hunting: Mexico

Article Abstract:

Guanajuato governor Vicente Fox is out to lead the political resurgence of Mexico's National Action Party by contesting the governorship and mayoral positions from Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) candidates. Fox is the unofficial party model, having shown good government in his tenure as Guanajuato's governor. Guanajuato has enjoyed booming exports and low unemployment under Fox's governorship. Ruling PRI has its reason to fear Fox's popularity, with the weak showing of its members in government.

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) refrained from fraud in the 1992 gubernatorial election in Chihuahua, which was won by a National Action Party candidate.
