German ministry urges narrowing of Deutsche Bahn

The German transportation ministry recommended that Deutsche Bahn AG, a German train provider, concentrate solely on providing transport services instead just maintaining railroads in order to be a more effective competitor in the European market.

Deutsche Bahn says more cuts possible

France Yields to the EU to win Alstom bailout: plan for big partnerships within 4 years could pave way for foreign investors

The European Union has settled a dispute with France over the nation's bailout of train, ship, and turbine manufacturer Alstom SA. The EU's antitrust regulators will allow the bailout provided the company will partner with other industrial firms; French officials had intended to keep the firm free of outside influences.
