Frankfurt's impatient maestro

Article Abstract:

Werner Seifert heads the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and he sees a need for change among exchanges in Europe, where there is little reason for a large number of exchanges to exist. The Frankfurt exchange is run by Deutsche Borse, which Seifert joined in 1993. He set up Eurex through the merger of the derivatives exchange of Frankfurt with that of Switzerland, and Eurex has since set up an alliance with the Chicago Board of Trade. He aims to develop a trading platform for the whole of Europe, though there are disagreements over the technology to use, which have hampered his achieving this goal.
