Friends of Bill

Article Abstract:

The investigation into contributions made by Lippo Group to the Democratic Party has caused considerable embarrassment for Indonesian businessman James Riady, who heads Lippo Group. He used to be proud of his friendship with Bill Clinton, but is now much more reticent on this subject. He is also attracting criticism from Indonesia's majority Muslim population, who resent the fact that Lippo seems to have established connections with China. However, he continues to benefit from his reputation as a successful international businessman.
