From cartels to competition

Article Abstract:

The Swiss Federal Council enacted on Jul 6, 1996 the LCart, the law intended to revive Switzerland's market economy by promoting competition in the interests of a market economy. The law established a Competition Commission which contains both decision-making and investigative bodies tasked with promoting competition. The Commission's president, Roland von Buren, discussed in an interview his agency's objectives and the role of competition in a free market economy.

A million English books

Article Abstract:

The Zurich Central Library (ZBZ) in Switzerland has more than one million English language books. The ZBZ has three million books in its own collection with approximately 1/3 in English. Library users can also order books from a number of computer-connected systems, particularly with the Federal Institute of Technology above Central and the Sozialarchiv near Stadelhofen train station. Anyone living in Switzerland is allowed to get a library card at no charge.

Switzerland's heritage at Ballenberg

Article Abstract:

Ballenberg is an open air museum in Switzerland that showcases authentically restored houses of Celtic people who lived over 2000 years ago. The museum has over 80 houses made from wood and stone. Visitors can also enjoy the performance of artists and artisans moving around the complex. Moreover, the museum has three excellent restaurants that serve traditional foods as well as picnic areas with fireplaces.
