Article Abstract:

Investors in Switzerland should become aware the benefits of investing in new products that combine life insurance protection with mutual fund investments. These provide traditional life insurance with a fixed amount paid to beneficiaries in the case of death. Links to mutual funds allow investors to increase the amount paid based on they risks they are willing to assume. These products also offer several tax advantages.

CAUTIOUS LENDING PULLS DOWN GTB H1 NET TO Rs31.58 CRORE

Article Abstract:

Global Trust Bank (GTB) has posted a drop in net profit to Rs31.58 crore in the first half of 1998-99 (Rs38.21 crore in the first half of 1997-98). The drop in net profit was due to the cautious lending strategy adopted by the firm in the first half 1998-99 in order to retain its asset quality. GTB's deposits have increased to Rs3,889 crore, while advances increased to Rs1,857 crore as of September 1998. (gs)
