Share slide stirs calls for a budget to support economy

Article Abstract:

Japanese share prices continue to fall resulting in calls for a supplementary budget of about five trillion yen from the government to provide economic relief. Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has recently announced reform plans to rearrange government spending. Fujitsu Ltd. has been affected and announces corporate restructuring involving job cuts and a forecasted group loss of 220 billion yen for the year ending March 31.

Fujitsu tries to become E-commerce leader; market observers ask whether its shares warrant Internet-stock pricing

Article Abstract:

Fujitsu has entered into several electronic-commerce deals in banking, securities and online shipping. The deals are a test of whether the firm can truly be compared with international e-commerce titans such as America Online and whether its shares should be treated like an Internet stock. Its deals include the full ownership of Nifty Serve, the largest online service provider in Japan, and the acquisition of former partner Nissho Iwai.
