Funny weather over France

Article Abstract:

The French government is seeing a drop in unemployment, a rise in stock prices, and business is doing well. There are still potential problems emerging, such as the increasing desire of labor unions to seek higher wages when employers are seeking to cntrol wage costs. The government is also seeking to control health service costs, while physicians are opposed to sanctions if they overspend. There may also be divisions as to whether the public debt should be reduced which would mean less government spending than otherwise.

Anchor away? European currencies

Article Abstract:

The French government's decision to cut interest rates is causing some to consider the franc as a possible replacement for the D-mark as an anchor currency. However, some experts believe that the French long-term rates will remain above those of Germany.
