Furniture and furnishings in Italy

Article Abstract:

Furniture production in Italy rose by 9% during 1994 to reach 22.5 trillion lira. The sector that experienced most growth was wooden furniture, rising by 7% in value. Furniture imports for the year reached 751 billion lira and exports were up 18.7% to 10.6 trillion lira. Furnishings production during 1994 totalled 74,800 t, against 70,900 t in 1993. Furniture and furnishings distribution in Italy is characterised by small, specialist shops and there are few department and chain stores.

Furniture and furnishings in Italy

Article Abstract:

In 1995, Italian production of furniture grew 11% to 24,950 billion Lire. The rise was mainly attributed to increased exports. Imports also rose, although this sector continues to dominate around 7% of the total Italian industry. Production of furnishings is also estimated to have risen, again largely attributable to increased exports. An overview of both markets is given, including details of foreign trade, market features, forecasts, and a statistical appendix.

Furniture and furnishings in Belgium

Article Abstract:

Furniture sales in Belgium during 1995 are estimated to have dropped 2-3%, althoough a stronger market is expected for 1996. Wooden and upholstered furniture currently accounts for 80% of total furniture sales, and the sector reported a 1.3% drop in sales, compared to a drop of 1.6% in 1994. An overview of the furniture and furnishings markets is provided, including details of market features and future prospects.
