G-7 meeting sends signal on volatility: Europeans push the U.S. to accept concerted call to check the dollar's slide

Article Abstract:

The Bush administration yielded to the European demand for a coordinated verbal effort to stem the dollar's sharp fall and the euro's sharp climb, as the dollar had already fallen a total of thirty per cent against the euro. The Group of Seven leading industrial nations felt that excess volatility and disorderly movements in exchange rates are undesirable for economic growth.

Iraq's occupational government has approved comprehensive legislation that are designed to bring a free market to the country. The laws are intended to make Iraq into a economy that will have low taxes and free access for foreign banks and businesses.

U.S. agrees to $8.5 billion loan for Turkey, signaling end to rift

Turkey has been granted a loan of $8.5 billion (7.5 billion euros) by the United States. The loan shows that both countries have put aside their differences over the 2003 war in Iraq.
