The German software developer Wings Simulations acquired by the Austrian computer game developer JoWooD specialises in the development of so-called massive multiplayer games for the internet. The company was set up in 1996 by Mr Teut Weidemann and Mr Heiko Schroder. The company's first product Panzer Elite is said to be among the most popular fight simulations.

The German computer magazine c't has published its ranking of encyclopaedias on CD-ROM. It gives the best marks to Brockhaus Multimedial 2001, while Encarta Enzyklopadie 2001 Plus is ranked second. Brockhaus is said to feature better search functions.
