GREENLAND: KNI RETAIL CHAIN TO BE SOLD

Greenland's regional government (Hjemmestyret) ahs decided to sell the KNI retail chain for a DKr 300 million (US$ 43 mn) profit plus goodwill. According to the paper, the price could be higher, but the government wanted to sell to a group of investors from Greenland. KNI has 50 stores and a turnover of DKr 2.1 billion.

GREENLAND: HUGE PRIVATISATION PLANS

Article Abstract:

Hjemmestyret, the regional government in Greenland, is planning to privatise all businesses taken over from the Danish Government. This includes major fish group Royal Greenland, the supermarket chain KNI and the telecom operator Tele Gronland (Tele Greenland). Royal Greenland has a more than DKr 3bn (USD 0.4bn) turnover, and is the biggest exporter of shrimps and halibut in the world. The group includes 50 subsidiaries all over the world. The market value of the companies will now be analysed.

GREENLAND: DANISH GIANTS NOT INTERESTED IN KNI

Article Abstract:

The two major Danish supermarket groups FDB and Dansk Supermarked are not interested in acquiring the Greenland based chain KNI, which includes 50 supermarkets totaling a DKr 1bn (USD 0.15bn) turnover. FDB already operates in Greenland through seven stores, and Dansk Supermarked is not interested in entering the market in Greenland. Hjemmestyret, the regional government in Greenland, will officially decide about the privatization of KNI this spring.
