GUJARAT NARMADA VALLEY FERTILISERS CO LTD

Article Abstract:

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers Co Ltd (GNFC) is a joint venture of the state government of Gujarat and Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals (GSFC). The state government holds 27 percent equity and GSFC 25 percent equity in GNFC. The manufacturing facility is located at Bharuch in Gujarat. Its fuel based ammonia plant has a capacity of 1,350 tonnes per day (tpd) and urea plant with a capacity of 1,800 tpd. GNFC manufactures methanol and formic acid also. It has commissioned an acetic acid plant in June 1995 with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum. It has posted a growth of six percent in net profit to Rs950 million on a sales of Rs12.2 billion for 1997-98. (rk)

GOOD PROSPECTS: GUJARAT NARMADA VALLEY FERTILIZERS CO

Article Abstract:

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co (GNFC), a domestic leader in the manufacture of methanol and formic acid, has a 1,350 tonnes per day ammonia plant and a 1,800 tonnes per day urea plant at Bharuch in Gujarat. The company, deriving most of its revenues from fertilisers, makes nitrogenous fertilisers and phosphatic fertilisers. It also imports fertilisers for sale in the Indian market. Though the increasing costs of petroleum products may affect GNFC, it stands to gain from the Hanumantha Rao panel recommendations. GNFC's concentrated nitric acid plant is to be started by 1999-2000 end. (nv)

Article Abstract:

Gujarat State Fertilisers & Chemicals is engaged in the manufacture of fertilisers, industrial chemicals, polymers and fibres. Its ammonia facility has a capacity of 0.315 million tonnes per annum (tpa), urea plant 0.364 million tpa, complex fertilisers 0.256 million and its di-ammonium phosphate 0.15 million tpa. Its chemicals division produces caprolactum, nylon-6 and melamine, acrylics. It has a liquefied petroleum gas bottling plant also. In 1997-98, its sales have increased by 5.6 percent to Rs20 billion and its net profit decreased by 8.7 percent to Rs1,699.5 million. (rk)
