Article Abstract:

Forty Four percent of 1,678 adults surveyed do not spend any time gardening, with most of these people either not being responsible for maintaining the garden or not having a garden. Ten per cent of those surveyed spent seven hours or more in the garden each week. The keen gardeners are more likely to be married, with both males and females equally keen. Twenty percent of those surveyed with no children at home spent at least five hours gardening per week. An interest in gardening grows with age. A survey of time spent gardening is presented.
