Generation next

Article Abstract:

Second-generation Asians are beginning to establish a strong position in UK society. Many run very successful businesses, while others have entered politics or work in the entertainment and design industries. They are playing a key role in making UK society a vibrant mixture of religions and cultures. There is a strong multi-ethnic atmosphere in many of the UK's urban centres. Race relations have begun to mature, but there are still indications of discrimination against Asians in areas including employment and housing.

Promising newcomer

Article Abstract:

European Currency Units (Ecu) bonds offer lower yields than other currency-denominated bonds but are considered a much safer investment. The Ecu is a denominated currency whose value is determined by the weighted average of the 12 European Community (EC) currencies. As such, the bonds usually carry an AAA or AA rating. EC members are issuing notes ranging from three to 30 years in a bid to generate interest in Ecu bonds.
