German plan to privatize rail faces more obstacles

Article Abstract:

Germany's Social Democratic Party has complicated the government's plans to privatize the nation's railroad firm Deutsche Bahn AG by agreeing to sell only nonvoting preferred shares, totaling 25.1% of the firm. The move prevents institutional investors from obtaining more influence. However, the Party's coalition partner, the conservatives under Chancellor Angela Merkel, want to sell voting shares.
