Glasgow: a city of change

Article Abstract:

Glasgow is acknowledged as having changed from a run-down city dependent on shipbuilding and other heavy industries to an example of a modern city housing many service industries. Parts of the city's housing stock is still in need of improvement, particularly the large estates in the city suburbs. It is a city with social problems, having suffered large losses of population and high unemployment. Glasgow now has its own development agency to oversee its economic and social changes.
