Alliances are in the air; international partnerships ensure that passengers always fly friendly skies

Article Abstract:

International partnerships among airlines have grown ten times since the trend first started in the 1980s. Statistics reported by the Boston Consulting Group reveals that about 66% of air traffic throughout the world is controlled by four major partnerships. The alliance means smooth sailing for travellers who can easily transfer to a partner's plane and still get the air miles travelled logged into their loyalty plan. However, an inherent danger is the watering down of a brand's identity.

Towards the qualitative, plan-based simulation of international crises

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze an algorithm for determining whether a given state is the origin of a crisis or not. The algorithm was based on a qualitative, plan-based framework of crises described by W. Balzer in 1996. The consistency of sets of propositions was treated after a representation format for propositions. The model's computer implementation was intended as a tool for the theoretical study of crises by means of simulation.
