Goodnight, Vietnam

Article Abstract:

Vietnam was seen as offering opportunities for foreign investors in the early 1990s, but this has changed due to the slow pace of reform in Vietnam, and investors' lack of understanding fo the problems involved. Vietnam offered a cheap, well educated work force, and demand for consumer goods and infrastructure. The government prefers stability to rapid economic growth, especially folowing the Asian economic crisis. Vietnam could lose more investment if reforms are carried out, but reform and increased foreign investment could trigger political change.

Goodnight, sweet prince

Article Abstract:

The death of John F. Kennedy Jr has been given widespread publicity in the US media, and this is partly because of public interest in the story. There is also less news in the summer, so the media are looking for stories to cover. Critics argue that older people are more interested in the story. There is a contrast between the death of Kennedy and of Diana, Princess of Wales, where demand for media coverage was stronger, though there has been more interest in the Kennedy story in New York than in the US as a whole.
