The trainees undergo six phases of instruction that include roughly 26 extremely demanding sorties. During the course of the program they receive 100 hours of flight training and 300 hours of academics.

Tilt!

Article Abstract:

A helicopter industry executive noted that navigation/communication (nav/comm) systems have become so sophisticated that the challenge for the industry is to produce nav/comm systems which can process information with a minimum of workload but achieve maximum effectiveness. The advent of global positioning systems (GPS) technologies has fundamentally altered nav/comm design conceptualization since 1990. A number of defense electronics companies are integrating GPS with other nav/comm technologies.
