Gucci's earnings beat expectations

Italian fashion company Gucci Group NV reported strong results for its 2000 fiscal year and stayed with its 2001 forecasts despite the slowdown in the global economy. The company beat analysts' expectations with diluted net income per share of $3.31 (Euro3.70), versus its own target of $3.10 for the year ended 1/31.
