Gum sticks to lead against mints

Article Abstract:

Chewing gum sales continue to be strong in Canada. For the last 52 weeks to Mar 2000, gum sales increased 9% in grocery stores and 1% in drugstores. Sales of mini-mints increased by 3% in grocery stores and 4% in drugstores. To counter the increasing popularity of intense mints, gum maker Wrigley Canada has introduced intense gum. Intense mint makers have reported that the category is becoming crowded.
