HAL BATTLES HARD FOR AIRCRAFT DEAL WITH PHILIPPINES

Article Abstract:

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd is competing with six international firms to win a contract worth over $30 million for the supply of 5 maritime aircraft to the Philippines government. The company is trying to sell its Dornier 228 aircraft after modifying them according to the client's needs. It has been producing the Dornier 228 aircraft under license from Dornier of Germany since 1984 and has sold over 50 aircraft so far. (khr)

DABHOL SIGNS 20-YR DEAL WITH OMANI CO

Article Abstract:

The Dabhol Power Company (DPC), promoted by Enron Corporation of the US, has entered into an agreement with Oman LNG for the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for a 20-year period. DPC will source 1.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Oman LNG to generate power at its 2450 mw power plant at Dabhol. DPC will build an LNG tanker and regassification facility and import gas from Qalhat in Oman to its terminal near Mumbai. (khr)

INFOSYS EXPLORES PHILIPPINES, CHINA FOR SETTING UP SHOP

Article Abstract:

Infosys Technologies Ltd (ITL) of Bangalore plans to set up a software development centre either in China or in Philippines. It also plans to establish development centres in Europe and USA. These centres will be set up in the next 6 months. ITL is setting up development centres abroad to be closer to its clients and to develop software at lower cost. ITL now is operating in USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, Far East and Africa. (ag)
