HSBC Private Equity is one of a number of UK equity houses to have established a presence in Germany, where there is now an increasingly positive attitude towards Anglo-Saxon buyout procedures. The company reports that there is a shift towards shareholder value, with large companies looking to raise funds in the international capital markets. German companies are likely to place more emphasis on strategic worldwide positions, and will sell off non-core subsidiaries.
